Mission to Haiti
For a three year period from May, 2009, onward, St. Paul's L'Amoreaux will be learning about, and supporting, the Parish of St. Basil the Great in the city of Goinaves, Haiti. Fr. Max Accime, priest of the parish, visited St. Paul's on Sunday, May 3, 2009. A "Mission to Haiti" committee is now at work on a number of informative events about St. Basil's, fundraisers for the parish and parish school, and the organization of a group who will travel for a week long mission in Goinaves.

Sponsor a Student at Ecole de la Redemption, Haiti
As we look at our own children, fed each day and in school with books, clothing, and good clothes, we would like to help the children of St. Basil the Great have these basics as well.
It costs approximately $300 (C$) per year, to provide an education for a child attending Ecole de la Redemption in Gonaïves, Haiti. This amount includes tuition, a uniform and one nourishing meal daily.
Our goal at St. Paul’s - the congregation and Friends of St. Paul's - was to sponsor a minimum of 40 students ($1000 per month) for 3 years (September 2009 through August 2012), with an eventual target of 100 students ($2500 per month). Already, 73 students are being supported through St. Paul's and generous support has been received from Community Friends.
In the parish of St. Paul's, this is a challenge over and above regular support of the parish and established outreach projects.
There are three methods of support offered:
*Single donations
*Annual support of $300 per student.
*Monthly payments of $25 per child (by cheque or our pre-authorized donation program - contact the office for more information)
The project runs through August, 2012.
Cheques should be made payable to “St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux - Haitian Student.” Donations are tax deductible.
Recently, we have received generous support from the Rotary Club of Agincourt and sister clubs in the area. We are grateful for any assistance from interested, community groups or businesses. For more information about this stream of support - if you would like a presentation about the project to your organization - you may wish to contact Bob Kawano (416-464-2579) of the Rotary Club of Agincourt.
The Mission to Haiti Commitee thanks you in advance.
